Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat (H.I., S.I., T.I.) met Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar at his office in Islamabad, where they discussed ways to improve academic quality, strengthen research, make greater use of technology and enhance institutional collaboration.
Prof. Dr. Akhtar welcomed the vice chancellor and congratulated him on his appointment.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hayat briefed the HEC chairman on the university’s priorities, emphasising the need to link academic development with measurable improvements in teaching, research and student learning outcomes.
He said the university’s academic programmes needed to remain responsive to changing requirements of the market, while faculty development and research capacity should be strengthened through focused academic support and collaboration.
The vice chancellor said research should increasingly address issues relevant to society and the economy, with greater emphasis on quality, interdisciplinary work, research partnerships and outcomes that could translate into knowledge, innovation and practical solutions.
He also highlighted the need to use digital technologies to simplify academic and administrative processes, improve access to institutional information and strengthen transparency and efficiency. Rather than introducing technology as an end in itself, he said, its use should be tied to clearly defined institutional needs and service delivery.
The meeting also discussed ways to strengthen collaboration between the University of Sargodha, HEC and other universities through joint research, academic linkages, faculty and student development and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar assured the vice chancellor of HEC’s support and facilitation for initiatives aimed at improving academic quality, research capacity, institutional effectiveness and collaboration, and stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among higher education institutions
