The University of Sargodha will modernise all its academic departments and revise their policies to better align graduates with changing academic and market requirements, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Tasawar Hayat (H.I., S.I., T.I.) said during a meeting of deans, heads of academic and administrative departments and other university officials. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan also attended the meeting.
Prof Hayat said the university would modernise its departments and deploy available resources to improve teaching and promote quality research. Additional resources would be provided to departments where required, subject to rules and regulations.
He said students should remain the university’s primary focus and directed departments to address their problems promptly. Faculty members, he added, should ensure regularity in classes, improve teaching standards and focus on effective and purposeful research.
The vice chancellor said departmental policies should equip students with knowledge and skills relevant to contemporary needs and the job market. Teachers, he said, also needed to keep pace with developments in their respective fields and introduce students to modern areas of knowledge.
Prof Hayat called for stronger academic and institutional links at local, national and international levels, saying such connections were necessary to broaden opportunities for students and faculty.
He also announced measures to improve administrative functioning, saying the university would operate according to a formal calendar, with meetings held as scheduled. Vacancies among teaching and administrative staff would be filled through selection boards, he said.
He directed officials to remove hurdles affecting academic and administrative work and said unresolved departmental issues could be taken to the vice chancellor’s office.
The meeting concluded with participants reiterating their commitment to supporting the university’s academic and research development.
