UoS Signs MoU and LoI in China to Expand Technological and Maritime Collaboration

The University of Sargodha (UoS) has formalized two strategic partnerships in China by signing a Memorandum of Understanding and a Letter of Intent aimed at advancing technological innovation, maritime education, and international academic–industry linkages. 
These agreements were signed during the visit of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas to China, who was accompanied by Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Sarwar Awan and other members of the UoS delegation.
Under the MoU, UoS and Tianjin Xinzhiou Tech Co. Ltd., China, will establish a joint software house to strengthen collaborative research and development in Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence. The partnership includes advanced, industry-oriented training programs designed to enhance the technological competencies, practical skills, and employability of UoS faculty and students.
Through the Letter of Intent, UoS and Tianjin Boling Education and Culture Investment Co., Ltd., China, agreed to launch a Seafarer Training Program offering Pakistani students access to international maritime education and employment pathways. The initiative falls under the China–Pakistan Maritime Silk Road Scholarship, which will provide UoS students with fully funded scholarships, specialized maritime training, and direct career opportunities within China’s maritime sector.
Furthermore, Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives Prof. Dr. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Investment, Mr. Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh and Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha (UoS) Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, participated in the Tianshan Forum for Central Asia Cooperation held in Urumqi, representing Pakistan at this high-level regional platform.
Prof. Ahsan Iqbal underscored the importance of collaborative regional frameworks for advancing trade, investment, digital transformation, and infrastructure development.
Representing Pakistan’s higher education sector, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas highlighted the crucial role of universities in driving knowledge-based development, promoting research partnerships, and strengthening people-to-people exchanges.
