The University of Sargodha organized a training workshop titled “Learning Chinese Language and Culture” for BS-17 and above university officers.
The workshop was jointly organized by the Human Resource Development Center (HRDC) and Pakistan Institute of China Studies (PICS) and was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas at the Wazir Agha Library Hall.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of learning Chinese language and understanding Chinese culture in strengthening academic collaboration and professional capacity building. He said that China has emerged as a key global partner in education, trade and research, and Pakistani institutions must prepare their human resource in accordance with contemporary international requirements.
He appreciated the initiative, stating that such training programmes enhance international engagement and equip university officers with skills aligned with emerging global partnerships. He further emphasized that familiarity with Chinese language and cultural norms would facilitate smoother academic exchanges, joint research projects and institutional linkages with Chinese universities.
The workshop aims to provide participants with introductory knowledge of Mandarin language, basic communication skills and insights into Chinese traditions, customs and administrative culture. Resource persons shared an overview of linguistic fundamentals and highlighted opportunities for collaboration under bilateral educational initiatives.
The workshop was attended by Dean Faculty of Sciences Prof. Dr. Amir Ali, Director PICS Prof. Dr. Tahir Mumtaz Awan and Director HRDC Amjad Hussain Janjua.
