The University of Sargodha hosted its annual inter-departmental co-curricular competitions organized by the Riaz Shad Co-Curricular Forum from February 24 to 28, 2025. Students from various departments and constituent colleges showcased their talents in a range of competitions, earning accolades and recognition.
During the prize distribution ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas emphasized that students are the true assets of any educational institution. He highlighted the importance of active participation in co-curricular activities and encouraged students to harness their innate talents in pursuit of excellence.
The Director of the Riaz Shad Co-Curricular Forum, Dr. Muhammad Munir Gujjar, also lauded the spirit of competition and congratulated all the winners for their exceptional performances.
The results of the competitions were announced across multiple categories. In the Quran Recitation event, Muhammad Ahsan from the Pharmacy department clinched the first position, followed by Aqsa Bibi of Islamic Studies in second place and Rabia Batool, also from Pharmacy, in third. The Naat competition saw Zaheer Abbas Hameedi from Communication and Media Studies emerge as the winner, with Muzammal-ul-Hassan (Arabic) and Ghulam Sakina (Zoology) securing the second and third positions, respectively.
In the Singing competition, Parwasha Aslam from the Mathematics department took first place, Hamna Rasheed of Urdu finished second, and Faheem Khan from the Law College came in third. The Punjabi Debate witnessed Muhammad Hamza from English topping the event, while M. Abubakar from Islamic Studies was the runner-up. Rida Zainab from Physics, along with another contestant from Islamic Studies, shared the third spot.
For the oratory events, in the Serious Urdu Speech, Rebaha Rizwan representing DPT won first place, Usama Shoukat (Urdu) was second, and Mobeen Arif (Arabic) came third. In the Humorous Urdu Speech, Muhammad Hamza from English again secured first place, followed by Ume Habiba from Software Engineering and Farhat Shaheen from Arabic.
The competitions further featured a dual-language oratory challenge. In the Serious English Speech, Muqaddas Jahangir from English claimed the top spot, with Alina Alam also from English and Maryam Jameela from Chemistry finishing second and third respectively. In the Humorous English Speech, Muhammad Hamza once more led the results for the English department, trailed by Amna Arooj from Chemistry and M. Mudassir from English.
The Quiz competition witnessed strong performances from Muhammad Faizan of Pharmacy, who emerged as the winner, with Rehmat Ali (English) and Mahnoor Fatima (English) completing the podium. In the writing events, Muqaddas Jahangir of English secured first place in the English Essay Writing contest, followed by Muhammad Faisal Hayat from the Law College and Nadia Parveen from English. Similarly, in the Urdu Essay Writing competition, Areeba Rafique from Pharmacy topped the event, while Usama Shoukat (Urdu) and Muqaddas Nazir (Urdu) followed in the subsequent positions.
The literary events also celebrated creative expression. In the Urdu Ghazal competition, Umar Asim Sial from the Law College claimed first place, with Syeda Mahreen from Psychology and Kashif Ali from Mass Communication finishing second and third respectively. The Urdu Poetry contest saw Syeda Mahreen of Psychology take the top spot, Muhammad Bilal from Zoology secure second place, and Kashif Ali (Communication and Media Studies) complete the trio.
In the Punjabi Ghazal event, Tayyaba Ramzan from the Education department emerged victorious, followed by Hamza Janjua from English and Syeda Mehreen from Psychology in second and third places respectively. The Punjabi Nazam competition was won by Hamza Janjua (English), with Tayyaba Ramzan (Education) and Umar Asim Sial (Law) finishing in the subsequent positions. In the Urdu Bait Bazi contest, Atiq Ur Rehman from Urdu clinched first place, followed by M. Bilal from Zoology and Sheraz Ali from Urdu.
The Photography competition crowned Manahil Iqbal from Pharmacy as the winner, with Aqasha Nawab from English and Ayesha Zulfiqar from Pharmacy rounding out the top three. Lastly, the Drama competition saw Abdul Mateen Zeb among team members from English take the top honor.
This event not only celebrated the remarkable achievements of the students but also reinforced the university's commitment to fostering a vibrant, well-rounded academic environment. Through these competitions, the University of Sargodha continues to nurture talent, encouraging students to excel both in their academic pursuits and in co-curricular activities.
