A delegation from the University of Sargodha participated in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) Capacity-Building Workshop organized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan in collaboration with Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU).
According to details, the five-day training workshop brought together representatives from universities across Pakistan to build institutional capacity for modern distance education. The University of Sargodha was represented by Muhammad Aamir Khan (Deputy Director IT), Dr. Muhammad Sameer Raza (Associate Professor), Dr. Sultan Shuja (Assistant Professor), and Rehmatullah (Deputy Director QEC).
The core objective of the workshop was to equip higher education institutions with the skills required for the effective implementation of HEC’s ODL Policy 2024. Key training components included e-learning frameworks, instructional design, digital course development, preparation of modern teaching materials, online assessments, quality assurance mechanisms, and ICT integration. Participants were also briefed on international standards of ODL models, monitoring mechanisms, and best practices adopted globally.
The training will significantly enhance the institution’s technical and administrative capacity and support the effective launch of the forthcoming Open and Distance Learning Model at University of Sargodha.
The initiative is expected to improve the quality of distance education, promote technology-enabled teaching methods, and ensure greater accessibility to higher education for students.
Representatives from participating universities termed the HEC initiative an important step toward strengthening digital learning and advancing distance education across the country.
