The University of Sargodha (UoS) has secured three research projects under the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) National Research Programme for Universities (NRPU) 2026, reinforcing its growing footprint in high-impact academic research.
The NRPU initiative, a prestigious programme of the HEC, is designed to promote nationally relevant and innovative research, particularly in areas addressing critical challenges.
The funded projects at UoS have been awarded to Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal, Director of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), Dr. Iram Hafeez, Assistant Professor at the Institute of Chemistry, and Dr. Misbah Hussain, Assistant Professor at the Department of Biotechnology.
In his remarks, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas termed the achievement a significant milestone in the university’s “progressive journey towards research excellence.” He said the success reaffirms UoS’s position as a leading research-focused institution in Pakistan.
He further highlighted the pivotal role of ORIC in strengthening the university’s research ecosystem, stating that the office has been instrumental in promoting a culture of innovation, facilitating research collaborations, and enhancing overall research productivity. He added that the continued support and strategic guidance of the Pro-Vice Chancellor, deans, and committed faculty members have been central to sustaining this momentum.
“The dedication and performance of our faculty continue to drive innovation and academic excellence,” the vice chancellor remarked, expressing confidence that the university would further expand its research impact in the coming years.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Raza Bilal said that the university’s consistent performance reflects its strong commitment to research excellence. He noted that UoS had secured a total of seven NRPU-funded projects in the last two funding cycles, indicating sustained academic progress and competitiveness. He added that this success was driven by effective institutional leadership and a vibrant research culture.
