The Pro VC further stated that Governments, educational institutions, and the private sector must collaborate to enhance educational and employment opportunities for women through practical and effective initiatives.
Dr. Rehana Ilyas highlighted the socio-economic challenges faced by women in Pakistan by stating that limited access to education, fewer job opportunities, gender discrimination, and workplace harassment are among the major barriers for women in our society. She further stated that to address these challenges, it is imperative to expand educational programs, skill development initiatives, and employment opportunities, ensuring women can lead independent and confident lives.
Dr. Nargis Abbas, stressed the importance of education and legal awareness by stating that without education and awareness, women cannot fully exercise their rights. She further emphasized the need for more focused efforts on girls' education, vocational training, and legal protection to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for women.
Additionally, the Department of Communication and Media Studies, in collaboration with the Women Development Center, organized an awareness walk. The walk was led by Dr. Mudassir Hussain Shah, Chairman of the Department of Communication and Media Studies, and Dr. Nargis Abbas, Chairperson of the Women Development Center.
