The Palestine Issue: Past and Present

The Directorate of Students Affairs and Department of History & Pak Studies University of Sargodha (UoS) jointly organized an interactive Seminar titled "The Palestine Issue: Past and Present’’ on Tuesday.


The seminar aimed to shed light on the historical and current aspects of the Palestine issue.


The keynote speakers included Assistant Professor Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Dr. Muhammad Sajid, Ex Chairman of Urdu Department Dr. Khalid Nadeem, Chairperson Department of History and Pakistan Studies Dr. Abrar Zahoor Bhatti, Assistant Professor Department of Islamic Studies Dr. Feroz ud Din Shah shared their views on historical, religious and political perspective of ongoing Palestine conflict.

 
Dr. Muhammad Sajid discussed a comprehensive overview of the political background, tracing the roots of the Palestine issue and its evolution over the decades.


He said ‘’Israel has the world’s fifth largest military and people of occupied Palestine are oppressed. We should give a strong message that this ongoing bombardment, invasion of Gaza, occupation of Palestinian territories, and blockade are unacceptable.


The speakers also urged the international community not to adopt the narrative of colonial powers but to acknowledge the ongoing suffering of Palestinians, whose homes are continually being destroyed.


Furthermore, they emphasized that solving the Palestine problem won't be achieved through public gatherings and slogans alone but it demands visionary leadership and an immediate need for an urgent ceasefire.
