Dr. Najeti Safini Senior Program Officer at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Canada, visited the University of Sargodha (UoS) and held a meeting with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, who was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Zafar Hayat Director One Health Centre. The discussion focused on the University’s One Health Centre and explored potential avenues for academic and research collaboration.
Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas briefed that the University’s priority is not only the institutional development of the campus but also contributing to the progress of the region, the country, and strengthening global academic linkages through joint research projects.
He added that a healthy society thrives on modern scientific knowledge and awareness, which is why the One Health Centre was established. He highlighted that the UoS is the only institution in Pakistan with such a centre, whose mission is to ensure equal healthcare for humans, animals, and plants, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more sustainable society.
During her visit, Dr. Najeti Safini toured the University’s ongoing academic, research, and development projects, including the library and the One Health Unit, where she interacted with faculty and students.
Dr. Najeti Safini praised the University’s research environment and academic standards, noting the One Health Centre’s role in enhancing its international recognition. She also praised the discipline and visionary approach of the University’s administration. Vice Chancellor presented a commemorative souvenir to Dr. Najeti Safini as a token of appreciation.
