Prof. Dr. Mian Ghulam Yasin Retires After Distinguished Service at the University of Sargodha

Renowned academician, researcher, scholar, administrator, and Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha, Prof. Dr. Mian Ghulam Yasin, has retired upon completing his tenure. To honor his contributions, a special ceremony was held at the Multipurpose Hall’s Committee Room, presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas. The event was attended by Registrar Waqar Ahmad, Controller of Examinations Dr. Rehana Ilyas, Treasurer Muhammad Anwar, along with university deans, directors, heads of academic and administrative departments, senior faculty members, and officials.

In his address, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas paid tribute to Dr. Mian Ghulam Yasin, acknowledging him as an outstanding teacher and administrator whose services will always be remembered by the university. He highlighted Dr. Yasin’s instrumental role in several major university projects, including the solar energy project, mineral water plant, university hospital, and pharmaceutical unit, which he successfully led to completion.

Prof.Dr. Qaisar Abbas emphasized that while retirement marks the formal conclusion of a professor’s tenure, their impact remains everlasting. He expressed his personal gratitude to Dr. Yasin for his unwavering support and leadership as Pro-Vice Chancellor, stating that his assistance in various administrative and academic affairs had been invaluable. He further remarked that the University of Sargodha has been fortunate to have distinguished educators like Dr. Yasin, who served as Pro-Vice Chancellor, Chairman Hall Council, Dean, and Head of Department, fulfilling his responsibilities with dedication and excellence.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Mian Ghulam Yasin reflected on his 15-year journey at the University of Sargodha, expressing deep appreciation for the affection and respect he received from the institution. He acknowledged the influence of his mentors, Prof. Dr. Zafar Ullah (former Vice Chancellor of Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan) and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram Chaudhary (former Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha), recognizing their guidance as instrumental in shaping his professional journey.

Dr. Yasin commended Vice Chancellor Dr. Qaisar Abbas for his visionary leadership, which has positioned the University of Sargodha among Pakistan’s top academic institutions. He praised Dr. Abbas for fostering a transparent, cooperative, and professional environment, setting a benchmark for university governance.

Reflecting on his career, Dr. Yasin remarked that although he served in various administrative capacities, his greatest pride remained in being a teacher. He emphasized that a true educator’s duty extends beyond retirement, as teaching is a lifelong commitment to the nation’s intellectual and moral development. Advising his colleagues and university officials, he urged them to uphold loyalty and sincerity toward the institutions they serve.

In his concluding remarks, Prof. Dr. Mian Ghulam Yasin expressed heartfelt gratitude to Vice Chancellor Dr. Qaisar Abbas and all attendees for organizing the farewell ceremony in his honor. He stated that he would always cherish the love and respect bestowed upon him by his colleagues and students.

As the ceremony concluded, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas presented a commemorative shield and floral bouquet to Prof. Dr. Mian Ghulam Yasin, marking a heartfelt farewell to an esteemed educator and administrator whose legacy will continue to inspire generations at the University of Sargodha.
