The Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) at the University of Sargodha kicked off the 2nd phase of the workshop on "Open & Distance Learning."
Two Day Video Content Creation Workshop on (ODL) Aimed to discuss emerging trends and strategies for enhancing educational outreach and inclusivity.
Dr. Sohail Riaz, Chairperson of the Department of Media and Communication Studies, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, emphasized the role of interactive and multimedia-based content in sustaining student engagement and achieving learning outcomes.
Dr. Baber Ali, General Manager of the Virtual University Television Network, provided insights on Media Literacy, Contemporary and Disruptive Media Technologies, their impact on the ODL domains, making videos for educational content.
Dr. Nadia Saleem, Chairperson of the Department of Mass Communication, Virtual University of Pakistan, explained the various formats and models for blended learning which are being used for ODL. She also guided the participants about course structuring, outline preparation, learning outcomes, assessments, and quizzes for distance learning models.
VC UoS Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas also attended the workshop and highlighted the importance of Open and Distance Learning in democratizing education. He emphasized that ODL is essential for expanding access to quality education, especially for those in remote and underserved communities. By integrating innovative digital tools, we can create more adaptable and inclusive learning environments, he concluded.
Consultant of HRDC, Khursheed Yousaf, stated that the workshop series represents a critical step in strengthening the university’s commitment to provide distance learning opportunities. He also said that we are dedicated to provide training and resources that prepare educators to effectively leverage ODL technologies, making quality education accessible to all.
