The University of Sargodha and University of Okara (UO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday to work together to achieve United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030. Both universities also agreed for academic collaboration in all disciplines and joint ventures in various fields of research.
The pact was signed between the UoS Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas and the UO Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Wajid.
The agreement includes joint conferences, workshops, seminars and other academic events on a regular basis, in addition to collaborating in research projects and joint student thesis supervision. Both parties would make their laboratories and research facilities accessible to the faculty and postgraduate students on a mutual basis.
Under this arrangement, both institutions shall endeavor to share teaching materials such as lecture notes and case studies, research reports, working papers, audio-visual materials, and software among faculty of both universities in a mutually beneficial manner.
The universities also agreed on sharing of facilities and access to specialized instruments and equipment for collaborative research projects/activities, between the participating institutions, keeping the availability without disturbing the routine activities of each of the institutions.
Commenting on the key objectives of the MoU, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas said, "The two universities will work together to promote research in key areas in a bid to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations." He stressed on strengthening links between educational institutions, especially universities and industries to achieve educational and economic goals.
Appreciating the achievements of UoS, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Wajid termed the partnership an exciting initiative, and hoped that it would promote research culture, innovation and creativity among the faculty and students at both sides.
