Department of Education was established in 2003. Over the years, it has grown in academic strength, research capacity, faculty expertise, and contribution to teacher education and educational development. Later, the Department was elevated to Institute of Education.The Institute is dedicated to advancing teacher education, educational leadership, professional development, and educational research. It provides academic and professional opportunities for students, scholars, and practitioners in areas including Educational Assessment and Evaluation, Educational Planning and Management, Educational Research, Educational Psychology, Curriculum Development, Digital Pedagogy, and Educational Technology.The Institute focuses on promoting equitable quality education, innovation, inclusivity, and a culture of lifelong learning for sustainable educational and social development. It seeks to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to respond effectively to the diverse learning needs of students and the evolving demands of educational institutions. The Institute also promotes an entrepreneurial mindset, encouraging students to initiate, develop, and lead innovative educational initiatives that contribute to institutional improvement and social progress.The Institute currently offers six academic programmes:BS Education BS Special Education BS Education (5th Semester Intake) B.Ed. (1.5 Years) General MPhil Education PhD EducationThe programmes integrate theoretical foundations with practical training, research, and professional experiences. The curriculum covers Pedagogical Sciences, Educational Planning and Management, Educational Research, Educational Assessment and Evaluation, Educational Psychology, Curriculum Development, and relevant emerging areas of education. Programmes are reviewed periodically to maintain academic quality and alignment with applicable national standards and evolving educational needs.Detailed admission requirements and programme information are available on the University of Sargodha website.The Institute is supported by a team of 19 faculty members, including 16 PhD holders, who bring academic expertise, research experience, and professional insight to teaching and supervision. The faculty is committed to fostering critical thinking, reflective practice, research engagement, and innovation among students. Students benefit from a supportive learning environment that encourages active participation, collaborative learning, and the application of knowledge to real educational challenges. Access to library resources, digital databases, practical learning opportunities, and academic guidance further supports their intellectual and professional development.The Institute places a strong emphasis on academic quality assurance, continuous improvement, and research excellence. The National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (NACTE) has accredited its programs. The BS Special Education reflects the Institute’s commitment to expanding opportunities for inclusive and specialized teacher preparation. Further, the Institute also contributes to scholarly communication through the publication of HEC recognised research journals:Journal of Educational Psychology and Pedagogical Sciences (JEPPS) Journal of Educational Sciences and Research (JESAR) Journal of Online and Distance Education (JODE)These journals provide platforms for disseminating research, encouraging scholarly debate, and sharing knowledge on emerging issues in education. The Institute has also strengthened external linkages, expanded its research activities, and organized national and international conferences, contributing to academic exchange and research collaboration.The Institute believes that meaningful education extends beyond the classroom.
