Dr. Muhammad Irfan Ashraf is an Associate Professor of Forestry. He holds over twenty years of diverse working experience in corporate and government sector in Canada and Pakistan. A decorated professional with a PhD in Forestry from University of New Brunswick, Canada. In addition to conventional forestry knowledge, he is skilled in artificial intelligence, forest modelling and climate risk assessment. He also holds an MS in Total Quality Management from Punjab University Lahore and a Post-graduate Diploma in University Teaching from Canada.
His research is focused on forests and climate change, greenhouse gas emissions from forests, modelling natural systems using artificial intelligence and value addition of agriculture and forest residues as a biofuel. He has supervised 40 post-graduates (M. Phil. & Ph.D.) to date. More than 35 research publications in impact factor journals and four books/book chapter are on his credit. He has been working as an Academic Editor of world famous research Journal PLOS Climate.
He is also providing his services as a technical expert to community and other institutes like Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad, Pakistan Forest Institute Peshawar, Punjab Forest Services Academy Murree and Higher Education Commission Pakistan. He has the honour to be a member of National Working Group of REDD+ Readiness Phase in Pakistan under the umbrella of Ministry of Climate Change Govt. of Pakistan.
