Dr. Ghulam Murtaza Rafique is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Management at the University of Sargodha. He earned his Ph.D. in Information Management (formerly Library and Information Science) from the Institute of Information Management at the University of the Punjab, Lahore. Additionally, he has served as an Assistant Professor in the same department at the University of Sargodha. Before his current role, he worked as a librarian at the Government Punjab Public Library in Lahore, the largest and oldest public library in Pakistan, as well as at The University of Lahore. Dr. Rafique has authored over 20 research articles and has been an active participant in numerous national and international conferences. He has conducted 23 workshops and seminars, serving as both a resource person and co-resource person, to enhance the skills of library professionals and research scholars in Pakistan. Furthermore, he has trained over 500 university faculty members and library professionals through on-site sessions and online webinars. Dr. Rafique is a member of various professional associations, including the American Library Association (ALA), the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T), the Punjab University Library & Information Science Alumni Association (PULISAA), the Pakistan Library Association (PLA), the Pakistan Librarians Welfare Organization (PLWO), and the Institute of Research Promotion (IRP). He has also visited the United States, where he toured more than 40 American libraries. In recognition of his contributions, he received the ASIS&T InfoShare Award in 2018.
