The Department of Soil & Environmental Sciences was established in 2007 as part of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sargodha. It offers teaching and research in soil science in relation to the environment and serves students, scholars, and professionals interested in soil health, land management, carbon management and sequestration and new generation of fertilizers.Our vision is to be a leading department in teaching and research in the soil science. Our mission is to deliver rigorous, practice-oriented education, produce meaningful research, and develop graduates who are skilled, ethical, and prepared for the demands of agro based industry, research scientist and academia.The department offers 3 programs: B.Sc. (Hons.), M.Sc. (Hons.)/MPhil, PhD in soil science. The curriculum combines strong theoretical foundations with practical training in soil, water, plant and fertilizer testing, and it is reviewed regularly in line with national standards and industry needs. Students learn in laboratories/field settings equipped with modern key equipments such as atomicabsorption spectrophotometer, spectrophotometer and flame photometer, they have access to library resources, digital databases, and learning support.In recent years, the department has published research in recognized journals, strengthened industry linkages and international collaboration. Students take part in internships, projects, competitions, seminars, and community outreach, which help them apply what they learn beyond the classroom. Looking ahead, we are committed to modernizing facilities, expanding research, building industry partnerships.Our graduates work in fertilizer and pesticide industries, continue to higher studies at international institutions, and contribute to their fields as professionals, researchers, and leaders.
