The Department of Psychology was established in 2004 as part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Sargodha. It offers teaching and research in psychology and serves students, scholars, and professionals interested in clinical, counseling, developmental, social, organizational psychology and psychometrics.Our vision is to be a leading department in teaching, research and professional practice in psychological sciences, recognized for academic excellence and community impact. Our mission is to deliver rigorous, practice-oriented education, produce meaningful indigenous research, and develop graduates who are skilled, empathetic, ethical, and prepared for the demands of mental health services, education, research and industry.The department offers 4 programs: BS Psychology, MS Psychology, MS Clinical Psychology, ADCP, and PhD Psychology. The curriculum combines strong theoretical foundations with practical training in psychological assessment, psychotherapy, counseling techniques, research methodology and statistics, and it is reviewed regularly in line with HEC standards and professional needs.Teaching is delivered by 13 faculty members, including 12 PhD holders and 01 PhD Scholar, who are active researchers and experienced practitioners in diverse specializations. Students learn in well-equipped Experimental Psychology Lab, Cognitive Lab and Psychological Testing Lab equipped with standardized psychological tests, assessment tools and statistical software, and they have access to departmental library resources, HEC digital library, and research support.In recent years, the department has strengthened its clinical linkages with hospitals and mental health centers, published research in recognized national and international journals, hosted workshops and seminars on mental health awareness, and expanded research in indigenous psychology. Students take part in supervised internships, case studies, research projects, seminars, and community outreach, which help them apply what they learn beyond the classroom. Looking ahead, we are committed to modernizing laboratory facilities, expanding clinical and research collaborations, and building stronger industry partnerships.Our graduates work in hospitals, clinics, educational institutions, NGOs, human resource and corporate sectors, continue to higher studies at reputed national and international institutions, and contribute to their fields as clinical psychologists, counselors, researchers, and educators.
