Overview

The Department of Physics was established in 2002 as part of the Faculty of Sciences at University of Sargodha. It offers teaching and research in physics and applied physics and serves students, scholars, and professionals interested in classical and modern physics, materials science, computational physics, and emerging technologies. Our vision is to be a leading department in teaching and research in physics and its applications. Our mission is to deliver rigorous, practice-oriented education, produce meaningful research, and develop graduates who are skilled, ethical, and prepared for the demands of academia, research, and industry. The department offers 04 programs: BS Physics, BS Physics (5th Intake), M. Phil Physics and PhD Physics. The curriculum combines strong theoretical foundations with practical training in mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum physics, electronics, solid state and computational physics, and it is reviewed regularly in line with HEC and national standards and industry needs. Admission requirements for each program are available at https://su.edu.pk/department/physics Teaching is delivered by 21 faculty members, including 17 PhD holders, who are dedicated teachers and active researchers. Students learn in advanced physics labs, electronics and computational labs, and research labs equipped with modern experimental apparatus and computational software, and they have access to library resources, digital databases, and learning support through the University of Sargodha. In recent years, the department has published quality research in recognized national and international journals, upgraded its lab infrastructure, and hosted seminars and workshops to promote scientific learning. Students take part in research projects, academic competitions, seminars, and community outreach activities, which help them, apply what they learn beyond the classroom. Looking ahead, we are committed to modernizing facilities, expanding research opportunities, and building stronger industry and academic partnerships. Our graduates work in education, research organizations, energy sector, telecommunications and public service, continue to higher studies at leading national and international institutions, and contribute to their fields as professionals, researchers, and leaders.
